I’m Marcus Flowers—U.S. Army veteran, former Department of Defense official, and proud Georgia Democrat. In 2022, I took a stand and challenged one of the most dangerous voices in Congress: MAGA darling Marjorie Taylor Greene. It wasn’t easy, but it was important to take a stand against extremism.
It’s even more important now, as MAGA has taken full control of our government under the extremist-in-chief Donald Trump. I’m writing to you today not as a candidate, but as a citizen like you who won’t be silent and won’t back down.

Why I'm Here
I’ve spent my life in service—to this country, to the Constitution, to the people of Georgia. From deployments overseas to safeguarding national security back home, I’ve seen firsthand what America looks like when it’s working—and when it’s not.
Over the past decade, we’ve watched our political discourse collapse into utter chaos. Conspiracy theories spread like wildfire, facts are twisted beyond recognition, and leaders perform for Twitter instead of solving problems.
You know as well as I do: we are a country on the brink.
I may not hold public office right now, but I’m sure not stepping away from the fight. In fact, I’m as primed as ever. And since Substack seems to be the home of the resistance, I’m throwing my hat in the ring too.

I’ll also be lifting up voices that don’t get enough airtime in today’s media landscape—especially in communities that have been written off for far too long.
Why Now?
Because the rubicon has been crossed. 2024 is in the rear view, and every day, we’re living with the consequences:
Our constitutional freedoms have been steamrolled.
The cause of justice has been set back 100 years or more by the radically regressive bill that just passed.
The very idea of what it means to be an American has been hijacked.
Not one inch more. Not on my watch.
